Akadot's Anime Puzzler: Over Before it Started
An hour and a half after we posted the anime puzzler - Akadot's new
contest feature, which called for the first six entrants to email the
correct answers to our editor - the contest was over.
Congratulations to the following six people who have won a "Hand Maid
May" DVD courtesy of Pioneer Entertainment:
Eric Lee
Daniel Markiewicz
Sasha McGlynn
Jeffrey A. Whitehair
Poco
Randy Tanigawa
Akadot is both overjoyed to learn our readership is consistent enough to
support a contest such as this and disappointed that it was over nearly
as soon as it began. Akadot will bring back the puzzler challenge, and
when we do we'll run so that it takes place over a whole week. Winners
will be drawn at random from all correct entries.
Here was the contest, for those of you who hadn't had a chance to view it, with the answers at the bottom:
Each of the five anime titles have been re-written by using synonyms, or synonyms for words that sound similar, for each syllable or group of syllables in the title. A little confusing? Yes. Let Akadot provide an example: "Bovine Young Male Louis Armstrong's Musical Style" would be "Cowboy Bebop."
1. A sphere made from reptilian scales and the last letter of the alphabet. (one word and a letter)
2. He throws metal stars at a rolled parchment. (two words)
3. He who lives next door to me and Dorthy's dog getting into a fight. (three words)
4. A shortened Patricia works hard twice. (one word and a number)
5. A hilarious man and a jailer drink a Japanese rice wine to the Egyptian sun god. (three words)
Hint: Try to figure out sections of the phrase. For example, the Egyptian sun god is Ra, which is one of the syllables in a longer word.
Anwers: 1) Dragonball Z, 2) Ninja Scroll, 3) My Neighbor Totoro, 4) Patlabor 2, 5) Card Captor Sakura.
