Letters to the Editor: Volume VI
Everybody wants something. Well you know what? Akadot can give! Give, give, give. You want answers? I got answers! Well, not all the answers. Fortunately, Shizuki Yamashita and Marc Handler were more than willing to throw in a helping hand.

C'mon, what's a few bucks?
Dear Akadot,

I'm just wondering if you could answer my question about FLCL. Will there be a boxed set for all of the DVDs after they have been released? I am currently jobless, and though I am eager to buy the DVDs individually, I am sure a collection of them as a whole would at least save me a few bucks. Also, are you still related to Synch-Point? I've heard vague rumors about the separation of your parent company (unfortunately I can't remember it's name).

Sincerely,
Patrick

Dear Patrick,

I can answer your question about FLCL, but I'll do it backwards.

Akadot's parent company, Digital Manga, Inc., has split from its business partner, Broccoli Co. Ltd. For Digital Manga to focus on its licensing and publishing ventures, the company opted to give Broccoli control of the production division, Synch-Point.

So what about your FLCL boxset?

"Hopefully we'll release the third disc with a box," says Shizuki Yamashita of Anime Gamers, Broccoli's newly formed US arm. Depending on how well discs one and two sell will determine whether we can afford to add the box, but if we do it will probably be exclusive to Anime Gamers online or retail stores."

Dear Akadot,

Hello,

I'm a student in Canada, and I'm writing a paper about the repercussions of female representation in anime and manga. I was wondering if you could offer me any tips or sites that could be of interest to me.

Thank you,
Lisa

Dear Lisa,

Matt Thorn is a Cultural Anthropologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Cartoon & Comic Art at Kyoto Seika University. His website, formerly known as "The Shoujo Manga Home Page," has exhaustive coverage of "Comics by Women for Girls of All Ages," and has been very helpful to me in the past.

Good luck on your paper!
