Overall: 7.0
After eighteen minutes, it lands a 9, after twenty-six minutes an 8.
And it all ends on a disappointing 7 considering its strength.
Story: 6.0
An admirably grand vision of a story simply couldn't be fully realized in 30 minutes.
Character Development: 8.5
The climax of Armitage's identity crisis, Sylibus' emotional awakening, their
relationship and the mystery of her origins dovetail beautifully and are the most
satisfying element of the episode.
Art/Animation: 7.0
The final battle with Armitage as a dark angel in a sandstorm is a highlight.
Translation: 5.0
The sloppiest in the series, they left out "the" in the phrase, "The fact is," and the
line, "Surprises always come unexpectedly," is just dumb. It improves as the episode goes
along.
Acting: 8.0
Masutani deserves credit for balancing the demands of a generally terse, gruff character called upon to express his warmth and affection.
MPAA Equivalent: PG-13
Isolated profanity, backlit nudity, violence.
X-Factors
Brilliant Pun Factor: 6.0
Asakura works in an isolated robotics factory with a logo in front that reads, "Con-seption Labor-atory."
Mood Music Factor: 7.0
Absolutely non-gratuitous, vital to the story human/cyborg seduction.
