10/04/03 (Tokyo, Japan) - Debuting on this October in Japan is the live-action series Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. Following in the footstops of live-action hero series such as Kamen Rider and Power Rangers, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon features actresses ranging in age 15-17 portraying the five inner senshi. 15 year-old Miyu Sawai has been selected to portray Usagi Tsukino, A.K.A. Sailor Moon in the series. According to Sawai's career bio, she is actually quite new to the world of Japanese TV. Other actresses portraying the other members of the Sailor Scouts include Chisaki Hama (Sailor Mercury), Keiko Kitagawa (Sailor Mars), Myuu Azama (Sailor Jupiter), and Ayaka Komatsu (Sailor Venus). The hero of the story, Tuxedo Kamen (A.K.A. Tuxedo Mask) is portrayed by 20 year-old Jyoji Shibue.
The storyline will begin at the beginning of the manga series. The first episode featured Usagi Tsukino admiring her idol "Sailor V" who has just solved a case regarding a jewel thief. However, soon Usagi Tsukino discovers that she has powers of her own as Sailor Moon and must defeat her nemisis Queen Beryl (Aya Sugimoto). Luna, Sailor Moon's kitten pal and advisor was also be featured in this episode. Luna's voice is be provided by Keiko Han.
Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon debuted on October 4, 2003 on TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System) and is set to air every Saturday morning from 7:30 am.
