DAY 2
Another beautiful day of YAOICON! DAY2 marked the official opening of the dealer's room! There was also the autograph session, where fans were able to get up close and personal with Kawai Sensei, and then of course... the bishounen auction.
Craziness in the Dealer’s Room
Within the first 10 minutes of the opening of the Dealer’s room, the Juné booth was raped…!! We had several of our new releases at our table, some that we even flew in from China. Needless to say J-Boy was sold out immediately and shortly after the rest of our new releases began to sell out. The line to pay was out-of-control, especially with the banks going down in the morning. ATMs had stopped working at the hotel and our credit card machine was acting all haywire. By the afternoon, the credit card machine was working again and the craziness had somewhat died down…
Autograph Session
Thanks to all of you for showing up!! Kawai Sensei was so worried that no one would come, but all 90 of you pretty much proved her wrong. Kawai Sensei peronalized each and every autograph with the fan's name, and added an illustration of her puppy avatar:)And thanks again to the Yaoi-con staff for going to the trouble of rearranging panel rooms so Kawai Sensei could spend some extra time with her fans.
Bishounen Auction
After a quick dinner, the June crew headed towards the Clarion Hotel for this year’s bishounen auction! It was mandatory for all staff and guests. Mwahaha!
For those of you who don’t know what the bishounen auction is, it’s an auction where bishounen (beautiful boys) are sold to the highest bidder, who then gets to spend time with him for the dance that follows the auction event. Those are the *official* rules anyway. The bishounen danced, sang, and recited limericks – never afraid to shed some skin, these boys made some lucky ladies *very* happy. Some of our staff had never been to yaoicon… Needless to say, the guys were shocked! *lol* You should have seen the looks on their faces. In fact, we managed to get snapshots of their reactions, so take a look! What did they see…?! Well, we’ll leave that up to your imagination. Kawai Sensei definitely enjoyed the auction. She was constantly taking pictures throughout the 3 hour event. Despite all the madness, the staff that went last year all agreed that this year’s bishounen auction was pretty mild compared to last year’s. It was hot nonetheless!
The show came to a close around 1am, and we were all pretty worn out. Hopefully no one was traumatized!
And that does it for Day 2. Whew! On to the last day of YAOICON 2006!
