200 years ago, Inuyasha’s father sealed away a powerful demon from a foregn land named Hyoga. A Shikon Jewel Shard awakens Hyoga’s son, Menomaru, inspiring him to absorb the remains of his father’s power to take control of the world. It’s up to Inuyasha and his friends to stop this nearly invincible foe!
If you’re familiar with the Inuyasha series, Affections Touching Across Time will probably have little to offer in the way of novelty. Same gang, same weapons, same tactics, and much of the same central conflicts involving the hot reckless half-demon and his complicated love life – but then again, what more can you expect from such series-movie conversions than a little more action and cool effects? After all, it can’t conflict with the original series, nor can it progress the storyline or reveal any significant information pertaining to the characters. See your favorite characters fall a little harder and be a little bolder amidst some killer graphics. Guaranteed to entertain.
For those of you that aren’t too Inuyasha savvy, in this movie each major character has their moment in the spotlight, and their appeal is brought out to the fullest. The signature conflicts of the series, like Inuyasha’s anguish over his half-demon status and his delicate relationship with Kagome are all covered, and if anything, this movie may prove to be just the introduction you needed to the popular series.

The plot is somewhat predictable, but entails plenty of great graphics to keep your eyes busy. A key scene in which affections literally touch across time is particularly beautiful, with gently falling snow creating a world of almost pure white. What’s great about this movie, and this series for that matter, is the fact that there’s treats for a great range of viewers – action is a must of course, but there’s also a great and complicated romantic aspect to it, as well as plenty of humor and tear-jerking moments. For entertainment’s sake, give this movie a try. While not entirely an award winning piece as a movie per say, the film does great justice to Inuyasha and his gang, and the quality of the series itself shines through.
