It is light, it is fluffy, and it is most definitely one of the cutest send ups I have read on the topic. We get the otaku, the aggressive uke, even a lecherous mangaka mashed up together into one delightful Boy's Love confection. The art is pretty, the cos-play costumes adorable, and the sex scenes definitely sizzle (and cause giggles, be forewarned). Poor hapless Morita in particular is the cause of many of the chuckles, not for his self identification of being an otaku, but his insecurities due to it, though most of the real laughs are due to his outrageous hormone fuelled fantasies that he invariably seems to have in public. Sakura has definitely unleashed a sex demon, and it is not the 2D incubus from the latest animé either! Sakura's lack of full understanding of the otaku psyche of his lover also makes for chuckles, as he misunderstands the nature and depth of Morita's devotion and feels insecure. Despite the over all frivolous tone, some serious emotional issues are addressed however, and I don't just mean otaku specific issues in dealing with 2D love interests. Sakura's vulnerability as he relaises he truly loves Morita and wishes Morita had been his first instead of playing about is touching, underscoring the fact that despite being popular, one can actually be lonely and searching for a true companion.
Digital Manga released this under their 801 Media imprint, so it is definitely rated an 18+. this is appropriate due to the graphic, full on nature of the sexual situations' depictions. It is not a title I would rush to read over and over again as deep seated favourite, but it is most certainly one I would pull from my shelf on a dark bluesy mood day to brighten things up. Quite simply, a fun romp from start to finish.
